Rental terms & conditions
Last updated: 15 October 2026
These terms apply to every trailer hired from New Trend Rental Equipment (“New Trend Rentals”, “we”), a division of New Trend Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2014/233813/07), 11 Smith Street, Worcester. By booking or collecting a trailer you (“the hirer”) agree to them.
1. Booking
Bookings are made on WhatsApp (through this website), by phone or at our depot. A booking is only confirmed once we confirm it to you.
2. What to bring
- Your South African ID
- A valid driver's licence (Code B for trailers up to 750 kg; Code EB for heavier trailers)
- Proof of address (new customers)
- A vehicle with a tow bar and a working 7-pin trailer plug
- Payment by card or cash when you collect (and the deposit, where the trailer needs one)
We may refuse a hire if these are not in order, or if we believe the vehicle is not suitable to tow the trailer.
3. Hire period and times
- Collect any time during opening hours at 11 Smith Street, Worcester.
- Return the trailer before 09:00 the next morning - that is 1 day.
- Collected from 15:00? Your hire starts the next day, so it is due back at 09:00 the morning after.
- Returned after 09:00? That counts as another day.
- Please return the trailer clean and empty.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 07:00–17:00, Saturday 07:00–12:00, Sunday closed. Closed on public holidays. Pick-ups and returns only happen during opening hours.
4. Price and payment
Prices are per day and include VAT. The full hire amount (and the deposit, where the trailer needs one) is paid by card machine or cash when you collect the trailer – before the trailer leaves. There is no online payment. Late returns are charged as extra days at the daily rate.
5. Deposit
Some trailers need a refundable deposit. It is shown with the trailer, paid by card or cash when you collect, and paid back after the trailer comes back in the same condition. We may use the deposit towards cleaning, damage, missing items or extra days.
6. Hand-over and return
We hook up the trailer and check the lights, tyres and plug with you. Our staff photograph the trailer when it leaves and when it comes back; these photos record its condition. Please return the trailer clean and empty, at the same depot.
7. Your responsibilities during the hire
- The trailer is your responsibility from collection until we receive it back.
- Only you (or a licensed driver you allow) may tow it, with a suitable vehicle and the correct licence (Code B up to 750 kg, Code EB for heavier trailers).
- Do not overload the trailer beyond its rated weight, load it evenly and secure the load.
- Obey the rules of the road. Traffic fines and tolls incurred during the hire are for your account.
- Do not sub-hire, lend or modify the trailer, or take it out of South Africa without our written permission.
- Tell us immediately if the trailer is damaged, involved in an accident, stolen or breaks down.
8. Damage, loss and cleaning
You are responsible for loss of or damage to the trailer during the hire, other than normal wear and tear. We will show you the damage (with the hand-over and return photos) and charge the reasonable cost of repair or replacement. A trailer returned dirty may carry a cleaning fee.
9. Changes and cancellations
Need to change or cancel? WhatsApp or phone us as soon as possible.
10. Breakdowns
If the trailer develops a fault that is not caused by misuse, contact us and we will repair or replace it where possible, or refund the unused days.
11. Liability
We check every trailer before it leaves. Except where the law (including the Consumer Protection Act) does not allow it, we are not liable for loss of or damage to goods carried on the trailer, or for indirect loss.
12. Personal information
We handle your information as described in our privacy policy.
